Staff and CSC Board

President

Ron has been a member of the club since 2007. He helped out with a race when his son Andre was in K1 and he has since become hooked to helping out with the club however he can. He currently has a youngest son Olin in K-STAR*. Ron came to skiing late in life after having moved Vancouver and being prodded by his son to ski and keep up with him. The story continues today only now he has two kids to keep up with! When not being involved with the club Ron is an Associate Professor in the School of Interactive Arts & Technology at Simon Fraser University.

Treasurer

Gabi can be found skiing most weekends after dropping her two k2 racers at the mountain. She started skiing at a young age in Ontario and is therefore still learning how to ski the West Coast powder.

Last year she took on the role as Treasurer as a temporary measure but ended up with a full time position.

When not skiing, Gabi enjoys hiking with her dog, cooking and during the summer plays tennis and gardens.

Born and raised in Switzerland, I learned to ski at a very young age. It has been part of my winter life ever since.
In 1997 I moved to North Vancouver where I settled with my husband Owen. I thought it was fantastic to be able to get to a ski hill in 20 minutes and ski after work!
Luckily our son shares our passion for the sport and was keen to join the Cypress Ski Club. We like to be involved and so it felt only natural to join the board of CSC.

This is Sarah and her family's 3rd winter in BC, having moved to the North Shore from Ontario in 2008. The Renzoni family are avid skiers and our 3 racers cover the full spectrum: Nancy Green, K1 and FIS! While she is no longer employed outside the home, her background was in Marketing and Promotions.

Colin Grant was raised in a ski racing family. His father was Chairman of the Ski Federation of Great Britain, the Scottish Ski Council and the Cairngorm Ski Club (the original CSC!). He was also a board member of the local ski hill where Colin was coached from a young age by former Olympic and Scottish and British Ski Champions. He went on to race internationally for Scotland and Great Britain and was ranked in the top three in the UK at a time when British skiers were making an impact internationally. When mocked by Canadians about Eddie The Eagle, as politely as possible, Colin points out that the leading Brit finished 8th in the Calgary Olympic downhill, 6 places ahead of the best Canadian. Colin's own dream of racing at the Calgary Olympics disappeared with a knee injury the year before the games and he turned his attention to passing on the Olympic dream to a group of young racers he coached on his native Scottish mountain. From that group of eight athletes, came eight Olympic snow sports appearances from Nagano to Vancouver, an Olympic Bronze medal a word cup finals 4th place and several world cup top ten finishes in Alpine slalom and word cup gold and sliver medals in snowboarding. Colin splits his snow time between skinny waisted alpine slalom skis and very fat powder skis fitted with telemark bindings. When not on snow, Colin is an entrepreneur and consultant, running companies in the cleantech/greentech space and consulting on strategy and performance to cities and businesses.
