Rick is a Level 3 CSCA coach and Level 4 CSIA instructor, who has 36 years of coaching and ski instruction experience, including coaching the Whistler Mountain Ski Club Skier Cross Team this past season, Dave Murray Masters Camps, Apex K2 camps, and camps in Hinterex, Austria for Quebec ski teams. He also had the opportunity to coach with the legendary Swede, Ingemar Stenmark. Rick moved to Whistler in 1981 from Quebec where Mt. Tremblant was his home mountain. In discussing his skiing philosophy Rick states" Skiing begins with stance and balance, progressing with timing/coordination and then with the planes of movement. Once you have these mastered, skiing is easy! Passion for the sport is a necessary ingredient. Desire to succeed is important. Ski racing is hard work, but the results can be more than worthwhile. Look at the success of some of Canada's finest racers: Steve Podborski, Ken Read, Dave Murray, Dave Irwin, Todd Brooker, Eric Guay Karen Percy/Lowe and Felix Belczyk. We have the necessary conditions here in B.C. to build more champions like them. Let have a great winter!"
