Paul Hothersall is Cypress Ski Club's New Program Director

The Cypress Ski Club Board is happy to announce the appointment of Paul Hothersall as our new Program Director beginning June 1, 2010. Paul comes to the club with over 15 years of ski coaching and administration experience. Paul has coached with the Whistler Mountain Ski Club from 2006-2009 as Lead Coach of the Guest Racer program, Adaptive Race Coach for the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program and Disabled Skiers Association of BC, as well as a K1 coach. He was the Head K1/K2 coach for the Thredbo Ski Racing Club (2008) in Australia and more recently implemented their new E1/E2 program (2009). In the United Kingdom, Paul was Chairman of Alpine Racing for Snowsport England (2002-04), responsible for the running of the England National Ski Team program. Additionally, he was a ski team coach for the Royal Air Force (2004-06) where he developed a high performance ski program for adults. In the UK, he skied for the Loughbrough University Ski Team (1997-2002) where he was the captain and Pendle Ski Club (1995-1997).

Paul is a CSCF Performance Level (PL/Level 3) trained coach, a CSIA Level 2 instructor, a Snowsports England Level 2 Race Official and Snowsports England National Course Setter. He also has coaching and instructor experience with disabled skiers and park and pipe. He holds a Masters of Engineering (MEng Hons) in Systems Engineering.

We are enthused by the passion and energy he brings to club administration, coaching, and skiing. He is a creative problem solver wanting to learn and try out new ideas and so brings to the club a high level of creative leadership. Please join us in welcoming Paul to our club!
