Whistler Cup Update for Thursday April 5

I have a FIS Athlete Declaration that must be signed by each parent prior to the race on Friday. Please contact me via phone to set up a time to do this (604) 698 5394 or come to our team meeting tomorrow at the Whistler Conference Centre at 5:00 and we can take care of it then.

Whistler Cup Update

I have a detailed schedule of the events over the weekend and the races appear to be very well organized. I have attended the Whistler Cup twice as a coach and the races are well executed and everything should be very easy to find. Our meetings will take place at the Whistler Conference Centre in the main village. This is also where the awards banquets and events will take place and is the home base of the event. The conference centre is easy to find so I'll give you directions.

BC Games Update

There may be different pick up points for different zones so please consult your BC games package. I have been designated the zone 4 head coach. The bus leaves at 4:10 am on the 23rd so please prepare for an early morning. I will register the zone 4 athletes and make sure the other Cypress athletes registration is complete on Thursday once we arrive. There are baggage restrictions that will be outlined in your BC games package but if you have any questions, I may have more information in the package I received, so please let me know if you need help with anything else.

Training Cancelled Tuesday Feb 21

We are going to cancel training for tonight because of the snow conditions primarily, but also because of the visibility and weather. The K2 group has also cancelled training so there will be no programs running for the K1 or K2 groups tonight (Tuesday Feb 21). It has been very warm with a lot of rain all day at Cypress and the rain is forecasted to continue through the evening leaving the snow too soft to safely train gates. Sorry for the inconvenience, see you on Thursday.

Thanks

Luke

Update for Feb 21st and 23rd

Tomorrow (Tuesday Feb 21st) we will train slalom gates so please bring all your gear including chin guards, shin pads and pole guards. Because we have races coming up this weekend we are going to have gate training sessions for Tuesday and Thursday evening, so unless we end up with a lot of new snow don't worry about bringing any skis other than your race skis. So the plan so far is to train slalom tomorrow and GS on Thursday, but I will send an update on Wednesday to confirm the plans for the 23rd.

Thanks,

Luke

Update for Sunday Feb 19

We had a big day of powder skiing today at cypress. That was a lot of new snow and I hope everyone had a good day. Tomorrow we will try to train GS again, but bring your choice of skis just in case we can't train because of the conditions. Don't forget your gear for wet weather tomorrow because even if it isn't raining the new snow can be quite wet. An extra pair of gloves and goggles may help you last the day as well. Let's head out of the club cabin at 8 45am and aim to finish the day at 3:00.

Update for Saturday Feb 18

For Saturday Feb 18 we will be training Giant Slalom, so please bring your GS stuff and remove pole guards and chin guards if necessary. We will likely get into full gates and possibly timed runs, so wear your speed suits. Remember to bring gear for rain, wind or cold weather and hopefully you won't need to use it, but at least you'll have it just in case. Lets try to be headed out of the club cabin by 8 45 for a full day training until 3. Thanks, see all of you tomorrow.

Whistler Teck K1 Speed Camp and Update for Thursday Feb 9

Tomorrow night (tuesday Feb 9) we are training slalom with athletes from the BC ski team. We are also having a pro slalom race for part of the evening (slalom turns around panel gates). I don't know the details exactly but I believe the entry fee is 2 dollars and there will be prizes for different age groups and it should be a fun evening.

There is a chance we may have adverse weather so don't forget to dress appropriately.

Update for Sunday Feb 5

We had great day training today and tomorrow is looking like we will have similar conditions. Please bring your GS gear and super G skis if you have them. Please let me know if you are in need of longer skis as we have a couple options thanks to some parents with racers that are in K2 or have moved on through the club.

Update for Saturday Feb 4

Tomorrow we will be skiing gs and possibly super G depending on the weather and snow conditions. We may also have to help out with a few B net systems that were buried in the snow on Coyote 7 so please wear layers so you can take some off if you get too hot, and if possible bring an extra pair of gloves. Let's head out from the club cabin at 8 45. I will give you an update on which skis (super g or gs) to bring out first depending on the conditions in the morning. Thanks, see you tomorrow.
