U14-K1 and U14-K2 - Ready to race!

U14-K1 and U14-K2 are wrapping up their pre season and pre race training blocks right now on the hill with both GS and SL race simulation.

The coaches will be posting the times later, so parents - look out for that.

These kids are ready to go for this weekend race in whistler. We will have a full race report on the website and on the newsletter next week.

The U12-KStar+ team are moving into gates training this weekend, and I will be setting a Glalom up for them to rally get the moving and working their skis.

See you on the slopes

Look out for "on the edge"

check your emails this weekend, and contact me if you are not getting any updates via email from the club

Solden starts tomorrow, just have to figure out how to watch it live (no CBC sports until Lake Louise)

Happy Thanksgiving (and shopping for ski equipment)

A busy day at the Turkey sale in Whistler - lots of bargains and club families helped out.

Give me a call if you need help this weekend, otherwise have a great thanksgiving

We will also be at the Vancouver Snowshow with its equipment sale at the end of the month. In fact we will have a booth for you to all swing by. Email me if you want free tickets.........

1st Camp of the 2011/2012 Camp starts this weekend

Nearly 2 months is a long time to be off snow. I can not wait to be up on the blackcomb glacier next week with athletes from the club, skiing and fun + fun + fun.

Keep an eye out for photos and video!

Club house - it looks like will be starting a lost and found box soon

It is amazing the amount of items that end up being left at the end of the day.

We try to look after them, but we are not responsible for anything you leave behind. I also try to put them in the admin office, and this is only unlocked at certain times (such as when we are running sessions - OR when I am up at cypress - NOT 24/7)

On the funny side, a certain coach forgot/lost her pants for last nights session and had to wear mine. They are baggy on me, and I am not exactly the slim small female racer waist size.... mentioning no names........

See you up there!

Snow means ski time is coming!

Whistler opens next weekend, Cypress has snow on the hill already

The K1 and K2 team are hard at dryland training and in the gym to get ready for their early season camp.

So it is busy, exciting and all coming so fast.

If you have not joined up to the club programs yet for the season please do so ASAP to help with the planning and to benefit from the discounted season pass for members.

I may as well go for a hike to see what the truth behind the rumours are.

Bindings are dangerous! In more ways than one

Snow is falling and it is time to get the skis ready for the season.

Assuming your bases are waxed, your edges are rust free as you stored them over the summer in a low humidity place, ideally without the skis clamped together by a ski tie on the binding..... you have little to do other than scrape for the 1st day.

For everyone else.....

Remove rust with a kitchen scourer 1st, then use a stone or diamond stone. scrape the base with a sharp scraper, then brush to remove any leftover oxidation, and then wax.

Fixing the clubs race timer, but ending up upgrading the laptop instead

Whilst looking at the clubs' race timer, and why it is not working I noticed that the club laptop to work with it was run....in....ing v....ery sl.oooo.www...ly. Vista with 1Gb of RAM only. Not wanting to spend any money on non direct ski related items, I asked Keven from BC Alpine if he had any memory lying around.

Luck was ours as he had just pulled from the BC Teams laptop 2GB to put 4GB, and let me take the "Old" memory.

So thanks Keven!

Our laptop now runs much better. Pity the timer is still playing up though.

BC Alpine meetings

Just back from Several days with BC Alpine.

Lots of planning sessions, and a great time to some catch up with other coaches from around the province.

Got some great new info from high end physios to use for our dryland sessions.

3 other coaches and myself from the club are part of the new ski-x course qualification pilot program.

not so muddy mud run

Seymour sage and weather guru, Ron Lahti got the forecast a little wrong for the action packed "mud run"

Coaches are hoping for a downpour of torrential rain for a re-run in November for a super slippy track.

It was a great event for the days, with at least 60 athletes, and some cool pictures on the webiste already. Check them out under the csc community and then photos area. There are other pictures from other club events.
