We had great day training today and tomorrow is looking like we will have similar conditions. Please bring your GS gear and super G skis if you have them. Please let me know if you are in need of longer skis as we have a couple options thanks to some parents with racers that are in K2 or have moved on through the club.
Tomorrow we will be skiing gs and possibly super G depending on the weather and snow conditions. We may also have to help out with a few B net systems that were buried in the snow on Coyote 7 so please wear layers so you can take some off if you get too hot, and if possible bring an extra pair of gloves. Let's head out from the club cabin at 8 45. I will give you an update on which skis (super g or gs) to bring out first depending on the conditions in the morning. Thanks, see you tomorrow.

This is an update for our evening training session on Tuesday January 31st. We will be training slalom along side the K2 group so please bring all your SL gear and padding, chin guards etc. Wear your speed suit and a couple layers so you can take of your jackets for a little less air resistance.
Let's head out from the club cabin a 5 30 sharp. See you tomorrow.

Tomorrow (Sunday January 29) we will have GS training with the K2 group on Coyote 7. We'll leave the club cabin at 8:45 headed for a couple warm up runs on Eagle chair and then head down to Coyote 7. Please wear your speed suits in case the weather allows for some race simulation training. There is a chance we will have some adverse weather tomorrow, so please prepare for it and depending on the conditions we may have a bit of an indoor session in the afternoon so bring running shoes, or if everyone is too wet and cold we could finish at lunch.
Thanks to everyone for coming out on Thursday. We had a really good training session along side the BC Team members. We have great hill space options at Cypress and we will likely see more of the BC Team athletes through the month of February, as the training session went really well from their perspective also.
Tomorrow night our training session will be attended by some BC Ski Team athlete's and the BC Men's Ski Team assistant coach. We will be training slalom with two courses shadowing each other. One will use the 30 mm standard FIS gates which are a bit heavier than the 27 mm gates we are used to. We will have a chance to watch them training and interacting with their coach as well as have a chance to run their course and see what kind of courses we can expect down the road. I am really excited about this opportunity and encourage all of you to attend if you can.
This is the update for Sunday January 22nd. We will be skiing on our GS skis so please wear your speed suits and several layers so we can experience different levels of air resistance. In case of snow or bad weather, you are welcome to bring a second pair of skis of your choice, and don't forget your rain gear!
See you tomorrow,
Luke
What is the difference between racing and training?
Training you can make a mistake and it doesn't matter that much. You can also experiment on changing your technique.
Racing is all or nothing. Nerves play a huge role in the end result. How do we control nerves? I certainly don't know.
You have to channel that nervousness into race energy. Everybody does different things on race day to control nervousness. Figure out what works for you. When I raced I had to ski a lot to relax.
